Amoo and Brown fire Cambridge to victory against Stevenage

Struggling Cambridge earned a vital 2-0 win against Stevenage thanks to goals by David Amoo and Jevani Brown.
The U’s started well and came close after six minutes, forcing a brilliant block by Luther Wildin to deny George Maris following Amoo’s centre from the right.
When the breakthrough came ten minutes before half-time it was through Amoo.
Brown played him in through the middle and Amoo rounded Paul Farman before firing past the defender on the line.
Brown doubled the lead in first-half stoppage time, firing precisely into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after Jake Carroll’s free-kick was cleared to him by Michael Timlin.
Stevenage threw caution to the wind with a double substitution at the break, but Danny Newton’s effort from distance which David Forde comfortably saved was the closest they came.
Farman saved well from Jabo Ibehre with 14 minutes remaining, but Cambridge secured only their second win in 10 league matches, bouncing back from their 6-0 hammering at MK Dons on New Year’s Day.
