Blades boss Wilder set to ring changes for cup clash

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder plans to make plenty of changes for his side’s FA Cup third-round clash with Barnet on Sunday.

Everton midfielder Kieran Dowell, who has joined the Championship promotion-chasers on loan until the end of the season, is poised to make his debut at Bramall Lane.

Defender Chris Basham is available after missing Tuesday’s victory over Wigan through suspension if Wilder opts to recall him, and there is good news on the fitness of former England Under-21 international Martin Cranie.

The experienced defender was withdrawn during the 3-0 win at the DW Stadium but Wilder has confirmed it was a cramp issue and he will be fit to face Barnet.

Barnet captain Callum Reynolds could be fit to lead the National League club despite sustaining a nasty head injury in  the 1-1 draw with Boreham Wood on New Year’s Day.

If Reynolds fails to make it then David Tutonda or Simeon Akinola, who replaced him on Tuesday, could be drafted into the starting line-up.

Otherwise, caretaker boss Darren Currie may opt to keep an unchanged team for the third successive game after being impressed by their latest display.

Currie, who is looking to get job on a permanent basis, says he will be looking for the part-timers to attack United as they seek to pull off a cup upset.
