No complaints from Jones after Barnsley draw

Luton boss Nathan Jones felt a point each was the fair result after being held to a goalless draw by fellow promotion hopefuls Barnsley at Kenilworth Road.

The Luton chief saw his side fail to score on home soil for the first time this term, although stretch their unbeaten run to 13 league games in the process.

Jones said: “It was a real good game, two good sides. They’re a very good side, I felt they’ve been the best we’ve played this season, especially up there.

“They’re a side that are physical, that press, that work hard, and they can knock you off your stride if you’re not at it.

“They restricted our passing game today, they really did, especially early on. They had that energy and I thought on the balance of play it was probably a fair result.

“Overall we probably had slightly more chances but you expect that being the home side and it’s a good result as these are a good side.

“We’ve got to remember where we’ve come from. They were Championship last year, so this time last year we were two leagues apart and now we’re six points above them, so we’ve come a long way.”

Barnsley boss Daniel Stendel felt that taking 10 points out of 12 over the Christmas period showed him his squad doesn’t need too much surgery during the January transfer window.

“I said to the players today, in the last week after the three games we didn’t win and then we came back very well with performances against top teams, I think it’s a new atmosphere in the squad,” he said.

“I noticed that we have a good team spirit and a good togetherness and this is important when you have targets for the future.”
