Coventry coast to third successive victory

Coventry celebrated the new year in style with their third consecutive League One win as they inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Wycombe.
Conor Chaplin and Jonson Clarke-Harris grabbed their fifth goals of the season for the Sky Blues, who ended a six-game losing run away from home in all competitions.
There was less cheer for the Chairboys, though, who slumped to a fourth consecutive loss after Gareth Ainsworth’s side were made to pay for failing to work Coventry keeper Lee Burge.
Wycombe cleared a Tom Bayliss cross off the line before Luke Thomas dragged a shot wide for the visitors, who repeatedly threatened on the counter-attack.
Chaplin, whose goal was the difference in October’s reverse fixture, opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Nathan Tyson had brought down Dujon Sterling in the area.
Substitute Clarke-Harris doubled the lead with his first touch of the game after Bayliss broke from midfield to play him in.
Burge was finally worked towards the end of the game but Coventry held out to record a first clean sheet on the road since August.
