Salford ended a poor run of form and moved within a point of second-placed Wrexham after beating the Welsh side 2-0 at the Peninsula Stadium.
Matt Green opened the scoring for Salford with his second goal in two games, after a cross from a free-kick dropped for the striker inside the box.
Wrexham had a chance to equalise through Tom Walker’s curled strike but the effort went over the bar.
Rory Gaffney’s 10th goal of the season goal doubled Salford’s lead after the forward found possession in the box and turned to shoot past goalkeeper Rob Lainton.
