Cheltenham extended their unbeaten run to six league games as they overcame Yeovil 4-1 in a New Year’s Day thrashing at Huish Park in Sky Bet League Two.
Luke Varney beat the offside trap to open the scoring after 24 minutes, sneaking in behind the Yeovil defence to get on the end of a Jacob Maddox pass and slotting the ball past Stuart Nelson.
Conor Thomas doubled Cheltenham’s lead from the penalty spot 10 minutes later after Sessi D’Almeida tripped Chris Hussey inside the box.
The Glovers pulled a goal back in the 47th minute through a Tom James free-kick which took a deflection on its way in at the near post.
Alex Fisher, who had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half, almost equalised for Yeovil but his shot came back off the inside of the post.
Cheltenham restored their two-goal lead after 77 minutes when substitute Tyrone Barnett headed a Hussey corner back across goal for Jordon Forster to tap in.
Kevin Dawson completed the rout three minutes from time as he knocked in an Alex Addai cross shortly after coming off the bench.
