The Red Devils secured a 3-1 win over broom side Huddersfield.
This was Solskjaer's second win in his first two games after dominating Cardiff 5-1 in his opening game.
The club legend, who scored over 120 goals in 11 seasons at Old Trafford, took over as caretaker manager after Jose Mourinho was sacked last week.
And footage from the press conference yesterday shows the 45-year-old staying very close to the legendary manager.
In the clip, the journalists are setting their microphones on the table.
Breaking the silence, Solskjaer says: "The boss asks how you're doing and if you're missing him."
The caretaker manger refers to Sir Alex as "boss" while the media chuckle.
One of the journalists asks: "Which one?"
And Solskjaer simply replies: "There's only one."
The United faithful loved the way their new manager still referred to Sir Alex.
"He still calls Sir Alex Ferguson 'boss'," one supporter said.
"Now that's respect."
Another commented: "This guy is a Man United man, with Sir Alex's spirit beating in him."
While a third suggested chief executive Ed Woodward should end his search for a new boss.
"He will get the job," they said.
"He fits in naturally. I see the shades of Sir Alex in him."
Solskjaer went on to pinpoint two stars in the "emotional" win over Huddersfield.
