Middlesbrough vs Ipswich - Tony Pulis could ring the changes for Ipswich clash
Posted Thursday, December 27, 2018 by PA
Tony Pulis could make a number of changes to his Middlesbrough side to face Ipswich after a home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day left him under pressure from fans.
Pulis started the match employing wing-backs but the system failed to work and a half-time change of shape did not bring about the desired impact.
Ryan Shotton missed the match with a knee injury and it is not known if he could return.
Rudy Gestede remains sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Ipswich are waiting to learn the extent of an injury picked up by Grant Ward.
The midfielder left Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat to QPR on a stretcher after twisting his knee, but Paul Lambert was optimistic the injury was not as bad as it appeared.
Midfielders Tom Adeyemi (Achilles), Emyr Huws (knee) and Cole Skuse (knee) remain long-term absentees. Tayo Edun is receiving treatment back at parent club Fulham for an eye problem.
Jordan Graham has agreed to leave the club next week, cutting short a loan deal from Wolves to move instead to Oxford.
