Tranmere captain McNulty doubtful for Morecambe match

Skipper Steve McNulty is a doubt for Tranmere’s home clash against Morecambe.

The veteran defender took a kick in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Bury and had to be replaced, with boss Micky Mellon saying: “It’s always 24 hours, so we’ll see how he is.”

Mellon gave a vote of confidence to James Norwood after the normally prolific striker made it three games without a goal at the weekend.

“Many times he’s been the man that has scored the winners so we can’t really turn around and say anything other than we’re just glad he’s getting the chances,” Mellon said. “We know that he’s very capable and eventually they will go back in again.”

Luke Conlan remains a doubt for Morecambe after he missed out on Saturday with an Achilles problem.

Jordan Cranston dropped to left-back from midfield to cover in the 3-0 win against Cambridge.

Striker Vadaine Oliver returned to the starting line-up and scored, so he will hope to keep his spot.

Andrew Fleming, Lamin Jagne, James Sinclair and Kyle Hawley continue to work their way back to fitness.
