How Jose Mourinho reacted to Man Utd sacking him after disappointing season

It's been a long time coming, but Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have finally parted ways.
United confirmed the sacking of Mourinho in a statement on Tuesday morning, with a caretaker manager set to be announced in the coming days.
Michael Carrick, who is currently assistant manager, has been tipped to take over, while old boys Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Laurent Blanc's names have been murmured.
"Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect," the statement read.
"The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future.
"A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager."
Mourinho has been under pressure at United from the get-go but following a disastrous start to the 2018/19 Premier League season, the club didn't have much choice.
Indeed, seven wins and five defeats in 17 games is a woeful record and one that currently finds United sixth in the table, 19 points behind Liverpool at the top.
It's been revealed by Manchester Evening News that United players were "happy" with the decision to sack Mourinho following months of training ground bust-ups and public shaming.
So how did Mourinho react to getting axed? Well, according to the Guardian's Jamie Jackson (see below), Mourinho was actually "very surprised".
Strange. Mourinho's job has been at threat for months now and he's seriously underachieved at United, so there's nothing to be remotely surprised about his sacking.
What the future holds for the Portuguese remains to be seen, but reports are already suggesting a return to Inter Milan or Real Madrid could be on the cards.
