MANCHESTER UNITED have to sack Jose Mourinho NOW.
The Red Devils have become a shell of a team, devoid of attacking flair and inept in defence.
Defeat to Valencia tonight in the Champions League has to be the final straw with Liverpool waiting to hammer their once great rivals on Sunday.
Phil Jones’ own goal and Paul Pogba’s glaring miss in Spain underlined the problems Mourinho faces.
His players have lost all confidence and are simply not playing for the manager anymore.
Manchester United have been lucky to progress in the Champions League, an away win against Juventus, against the odds sending them through.
But a last 16 tie against any of the remaining teams should fill fans with dread.
Mourinho has had his opportunity at Old Trafford and Ed Woodward has to act now.
A top four place is the only realistic target in the Premier League and an FA Cup run the best chance of any silverware.
But that will not happen under the Special One.

What Woodward needs to realise is he has the perfect solution sitting right next to Mourinho in the dugout - Michael Carrick.
The recently retired midfielder is the best man to replace the Special One until the end of the season.
Then the likes of Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane can be chased for a summer appointment.
Carrick would bring a calmness to proceedings at United and who is to say he couldn’t be a hit on a permanent basis?
He knows the current group of players, would instantly demand respect and there would be little controversy for the remainder of the campaign.

The bust-ups with Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez would become a distant memory and Carrick’s approach would likely be far more attacking than that of Mourinho.
Known for his killer balls to assist goals, the 37-year-old would give his players freedom to use their considerable talent.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial would be able to express themselves and the defence could even regain the form and confidence of last season.
For all of Mourinho’s criticism of them just last year they were the second best defence in the Premier League.
United must make a change or face humiliation against Liverpool this Sunday on Merseyside.
