JUVENTUS are ready to give Manchester United the choice of one of three players as they step up their attempts to re-sign Paul Pogba.
Juve bosses are drawing up plans to end Pogba’s Old Trafford misery when the transfer window opens in the New Year even though it is unlikely to succeed.
But they are confident of getting their man in June in the face of competition from Spanish giants Barcelona who are also interested.
Ironically Juve sporting director Fabio Paratici who was a target for United himself has been drawing up plans to get a deal over the line.
He is ready to give United the choice of either centre half Medhi Benatia, left wing back Alex Sandro or striker Mario Mandzukic.
Jose Mourinho was interested in all three players last summer and Paratici will tell them they can have any of them plus a substantial cash adjustment.
Pogba left United for Juventus when he was 19 years old and spent four seasons with the Serie A team before returning to Manchester in 2016.
There has been intense speculation about the World Cup winner’s future after United’s poor start to the season and public disagreements with Mourinho.
After United's 2-1 victory against Juventus in Turin on Wednesday night, Pogba was asked about returning to the reigning Serie A champions.
“Who knows? I’m with United now,” Pogba said.
“There is so much talk about this, but am happy to be playing for Manchester United.
“It was wonderful coming back here, although it felt weird going into the ‘away’ locker room.
“I was so accustomed to the Juve one.
“The reaction of the fans really moved me, as I missed them and Italian football.
“It was great to be back in this stadium, where I started out and won big trophies.”
United’s next match is the Manchester derby against City and Pogba is a current a doubt.
Reports claim Pogba has suffered a "little injury" that required him to do "indoor work" instead of taking part in full training.
Pogba is yet to miss a single league game this season and is United’s second-highest scorer in all competitions with five goals.
United are nine points off City after 11 Premier League games and Mourinho has revealed he will be adopting an attacking approach to the clash.
“We are going to try to win,“ Mourinho said.
“I cannot say we are going to be successful in our motivations, in our desire, but we played two difficult matches away against two very good teams, Chelsea and Juventus, and we managed to get good results.
“Even if the good results were not in our pockets, the performances were there, the positive attitude was there.
“So we are going to try but City are a very powerful team.
“If we draw the gap is still nine points, if we lose it’s 12, so I don’t think that is the way to look at the match.
“We have to just think about the match, is difficult enough as an isolated event, if you want to put that match into the context of where we are and where we can be.
“I want to play it as an isolated match, a difficult match against a difficult team, but they will also think it’s a difficult match for them.”
