Man Utd news: The Red Devils are ready to join the race to sign Ramsey
Arsenal withdrew their offer of a new four-year contract after Ramsey, 27, failed to sign the proposed deal. Liverpool, Juventus and AC Milan - who have appointed Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis in a similar role at the San Siro - are already in the queue for the Welshman.
But United, who have a long-standing interest in Ramsey, will be involved in that race too.
Former Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson, now a club director, always wanted Ramsey and first tried to sign him 10 years ago when the midfielder was leaving Cardiff for north London.
And current United boss Jose Mourinho has already shown with the signing of Alexis Sanchez that he is prepared to exploit a contract situation at the Gunners.
The United boss has midfielders on his agenda and made a personal check on Lazio's Serbia star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, 23 last week.
It is still possible that negotiations between Arsenal and Ramsey's representatives could be reopened.
But as things stand he is on his way out of The Emirates. And United could have an influential ally if Ramsey decides to sound out his international boss Ryan Giggs for advice on his next move.
Giggs, of course, is a United legend and Ramsey is certain to be offered the chance to become an Old Trafford hero too.
