Manchester City's contract negotiations with Raheem Sterling have reached an impasse, according to the Guardian.
The winger currently earns £170,000-per-week and is now keen to sign a contract worth £220,000-per-week.
Both parties remain some way apart over their valuation but are willing to remain patient in negotiations.
"Some distance" between club and player
Manchester City are struggling to agree to new terms with Raheem Sterling with talks reaching an impasse.
Both parties remain "some distance" apart in negotiations with the player keen to become one of the club's highest earners.
The Premier League champions are desperate to tie Sterling down to a new deal following his excellent form for the club.
The 23-year-old's contract is due to expire next summer when he would be available to leave for nothing.
Sterling's value could significantly drop below the £60m mark should the club fail to agree a new contract before July.
The player and the club both remain optimistic over eventually reaching a deal and are both remaining patient.
Guardiola: "It's well-known we're delighted with him"
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has spoken of his delight for the winger.
The Spaniard has informed the club over his desires to keep the player and is now awaiting good news.
Guardiola said:
"It's well-known we're delighted with him and would like him to continue.
"My club knows my opinion and we share that. After that it is the club and the agent."
