Elliot Embleton is available to make his debut in Grimsby’s home clash with Oldham.
The midfielder, on loan from Sunderland, has yet to feature for the Mariners having been away with England’s Under-20s side.
Danny Collins returned from a broken arm in last weekend’s 4-0 defeat at Bury and is likely to continue, while John Welsh has been nursing a back problem but should be OK to feature.
Elliott Whitehouse will miss most of the season with a knee injury, while Reece Hall-Johnson and Harry Cardwell also remain sidelined.
Gevaro Nepomuceno and Daniel Iversen should be back in contention for Oldham.
Nepomuceno was on the scoresheet as Curacao thumped Grenada 10-0 earlier this week, while goalkeeper Iversen kept two clean sheets for Denmark’s Under-21s side.
They are both back at the club and could be involved against the Mariners, but Ishmael Miller (hamstring), Cameron Dummigan (groin) and Giles Coke are still out.
Aston Villa loanee Jordan Lyden also remains sidelined.
