Marco Reus says Germany are in good spirits after France draw

Germany can take plenty of positives into their friendly with Peru after holding world champions France to a draw, according to Marco Reus.
Germany and France played out a goalless stalemate at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Thursday but the hosts created the better chances to score and would have won had it not been for the heroics of goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
Reus forced the Frenchman into a decent save before Areola then denied Mats Hummels and Matthias Ginter.
The talk before that game was whether a post-World-Cup-woe Germany could respond to their disappointing showing in Russia in the summer, and Reus believes they did.
“All in all, it was pretty positive,” the Borussia Dortmund forward told www.dfb.de.
“We definitely had a decent game. Throughout the whole game I felt that we had the French under control because we were supporting each other well as a team.
“Our opponents also had chances, of course, but we also had two or three really good opportunities to score in the second half as well. With a bit of luck we could have got a goal at that stage and gone on to win the game.
“There were definitely a lot of positives but we need to be even more determined when we play if we want to score. We could have played a bit more calmly at some points perhaps. But the main focus was to find some defensive stability again.
“We can’t forget that we were playing against the world champions. We fought hard for 90 minutes and were lively.”
