All change at Scunthorpe as Nick Daws departs

Scunthorpe could make further changes against Barnsley after sacking manager Nick Daws.

Daws’ four alterations for Wednesday’s home match against Fleetwood, including giving experienced centre-back Rory McArdle his first League One start of the season and the return of on-loan Manchester United defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, did not have the desired effect as the Iron were thrashed 5-0 and have now conceded 10 goals in three games.

Andy Dawson, previously Daws’ assistant, will have the responsibility of arresting that slump after taking caretaker charge for the clash with the Tykes.

Striker Stephen Humphrys was taken off as a precaution against Fleetwood after complaining of a hamstring problem and is a doubt but midfielder Funso Ojo played his first 90 minutes of the season and is set to retain his place.

Barnsley could be short up front after seeing striker Tom Bradshaw join Millwall on an initial loan deal which will become permanent in January.

Bradshaw has started every match this season, playing all but 25 minutes, but will no longer be available to manager Daniel Stendel.

Midfielder Lloyd Isgrove has missed the last two matches with a muscle problem and remains doubtful.

Ryan Hedges and Zeki Fryers are still recovering from injuries sustained in pre-season.
