Newport are waiting on captain Andrew Crofts ahead of their home game with Grimsby.
Crofts has missed the last three games with a toe infection but County boss Michael Flynn says the Wales international has an outside chance of making the Sky Bet League Two fixture at Rodney Parade.
Matty Dolan, who was forced off before the end of Tuesday’s 3-2 home win over Notts County, and David Pipe are expected to be available after knocks.
But Robbie Willmott remains sidelined with a hamstring problem.
Grimsby welcome back former Newport midfielder Mitch Rose after a three-match suspension.
But Paul Dixon is banned after being sent off at MK Dons in midweek and Luke Hendrie could make his first Mariners start at right-back.
Andrew Fox could rejoin the squad for the first time this season if his return to training after injury proves successful.
But injured quartet Harry Cardwell, Danny Collins, Reece Hall-Johnson and Elliott Whitehouse remain out.
