Darren Way left frustrated after draw with Oldham

Yeovil manager Darren Way was left frustrated after watching his team draw 0-0 with Oldham in Sky Bet League Two.
The Glovers did have chances in the game, with Omar Sowunmi forcing a save from Daniel Iversen with a header in the first half before sending another one wide from a similar position when he probably should have scored in the second.
“It’s a great chance. For his size you’re expecting him to score there. He’ll be disappointed he didn’t score but sometimes you don’t get what you deserve,” Way said.
“I thought the first 20 minutes we looked a real threat and they struggled to get out of their half and we had some good clear-cut chances. Sometimes it doesn’t go your way.”
Way also felt that Oldham were lucky to end the match with 11 men when Ishmael Miller, having already picked up a yellow card for one late tackle, then clattered Gary Warren just before half-time.
“It was frustrating with the decision with Ishmael Miller. In any other situation it would have been a yellow if it wasn’t already a yellow and he should have been off the field,” the Yeovil boss continued.
“[Peter] Clarke at the back has played so many games and was slowing the game down. It was clever management; how many times did his laces come undone? I don’t know.
“How many headaches did he have? It’s difficult to play against. It’s almost a theatre. My team aren’t taught to dive. You could see them at times getting around the referee.”
Latics chief Frankie Bunn had a slightly different view of the match as after watching Dan Gardner hit the inside of the post and Jose Baxter send a header wide late on, actually thought the visitors could have left Huish Park with all three points.
“I thought we had the best two chances of the game,” Bunn said. “It was a scrappy first half but we came and tried to play second half and I thought we had little spells where we looked very good and then obviously created the best two chances.
“Maybe, on reflection, we’re disappointed but a clean sheet is a bonus and something we’ve been looking for today. As long as we came away with something it’s a positive.
“There was a lot of gamesmanship going on and I thought we kept our discipline and you have to cope with that and I thought we coped admirably.
“There’s a long way to go but again it’s another step. What pleased me tonight was the togetherness of the team.
“At times we dug in together, we sprang and countered very well and you could see the spirit growing and that never-say-die attitude. That’s what we’re going to need come January and February.”
