Karius was shocked by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp's decision to sign Alisson in a world-record £65m deal to replace him as his first-choice goalkeeper.

The German has been left upset by Klopp's move and is now considering his future.

Karius, who joined Liverpool from Mainz two years ago, wants to play regularly and knows that means he will have to quit Anfield.

"Of course, this is not perfect for me, but I cannot say much more about it," he said.

When asked if he would leave before the transfer window closes, he said: "I don't know. I can't say what I'm doing right now. There's still some time left."

Karius has been stunned by the level of abuse aimed at him on social media due to his continued blunders since his nightmare in the Champions League final, where he cost his side two goals in a 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid.

His dodgy display was subsequently blamed on concussion.

But he was at fault again for Borussia Dortmund's third goal in Liverpool's 3-1 friendly defeat in the International Champions Cup on Sunday when he parried Christian Pulisic's shot to Jacob Bruun Larsen to score.

That followed another mistake against Tranmere earlier this month.

Karius posted a message on Instagram, urging his critics to get over their hatred of him.

"To those who take joy in seeing other people fail or suffer, I feel for you," he said.

"Whatever it is that's happening in your life to hold this much anger and hate, I pray that it passes and good things come to you."

Karius has received the backing of Iker Casillas and the legendary former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper called for an end to the online abuse.

"Will this attack on Loris Karius ever end?" he wrote on social media. "I'm talking about him like so many other goalkeepers.

"There are many more serious problems in the world…f**k! Leave the kid alone! He's also a person as we all are!"

He also received support from Reds teammate Mohamed Salah.

"Stay strong Karius, it has happened to the best of players," he said. "Ignore those who hate."

Liverpool are still assessing the injury to Joel Matip, which forced the defender to limp off after 22 minutes against Dortmund.
