The Spanish giants have now made three offers for the Brazilian star and are expected to try again.

But despite transfer deadline day looming on August 9, Chelsea appear in no rush to sell the 29-year-old, who was arguably Brazil's best player at the World Cup.

Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is also still interested in a reunion with Willian at Manchester United.

But the Blues would prefer not to sell to a Premier League rival.

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia and owner Roman Abramovich are understood to be meeting this week to discuss possible departures and signings by new manager Maurizio Sarri, who took charge of his first game yesterday since being appointed.

A source close to Willian told Starsport: "The Barcelona bid has been rejected for now - let's see what happens."

Willian is not due to return to the fold Chelsea until Thursday as all their World Cup players contractually have three weeks off after their final game at the tournament.

Sarri got off to a winning start yesterday with a 1-0 friendly win over Australian side Perth Glory thanks to Pedro's fifth minute goal.

Afterwards, Sarri repeated his wish for face-to-face talks with Willian as well as Real Madrid targets Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.

All three are still on holiday following the World Cup, with Willian due back on Thursday.

"I like to talk to a person face to face," he said.

"I do not like to talk to a person by telephone.

"It depends on the club. It is clear that for me, it is a pleasure to have Courtois, to have Willian, to have Hazard.

"But it does not depend on me, so we have to wait - I am confident."

Chelsea head to France where they face Inter Milan in Nice on Saturday before taking on Arsenal in Dublin a week tomorrow.

They then face champions Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on August 5.
