Jose Mourinho wants three transfers this summer
MANCHESTER UNITED boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly told Ed Woodward the three transfer deals he wants completed this summer.
Manchester United are set to overhaul their squad as Mourinho targets Premier League glory next season.
The Red Devils signed three players last summer - Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic - but more is required if they are to challenge Manchester City for the crown next season.
And the Manchester Evening News say Mourinho has already told Woodward the three deals he wants.
The 54-year-old supposedly wants a centre-back.
Express Sport understands Manchester United have an interest in Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti and Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.
Both players are wanted amid doubts over the long-term futures of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones.
United need more defensive solidarity despite conceding just 25 goals from 32 matches so far.
The MEN say, though, United also want a full-back and central midfielder.
Express Sport understands Luke Shaw is facing a huge battle to save his Old Trafford career.
And, though no names are mentioned, Alex Sandro and Danny Rose are two possible arrivals.
A central midfielder is on United’s radar with up to three players possibly moving on.
It has already been confirmed Michael Carrick will take up a role on Mourinho’s coaching staff next term.
Marouane Fellaini may also need replacing, with his contract due to expire, while Ander Herrera’s position is also unclear.
Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Jean Seri are all potential targets.
But who United end up with remains to be seen.
