Wigan vs Southampton - No Nick Powell for Wigan in cup clash with Southampton
Posted Saturday, March 17, 2018 by PA
Wigan will be without forward Nick Powell for their FA Cup quarter-final against Southampton on Sunday.
The 12-goal man limped off the pitch during Wednesday’s League One victory over Bradford after picking up a hamstring problem and has no chance of recovering in time.
Will Grigg, the top scorer in the FA Cup this season with seven goals, returns to lead the line after starting on the bench on Wednesday. Devante Cole, James Vaughan and Donervon Daniels are all cup-tied.
Southampton remain without injured striker Charlie Austin and midfielder Steven Davis.
The pair will miss new manager Mark Hughes’ first match in charge due to hamstring injuries.
Hughes has spoken of the need to get his new team scoring goals regularly, so is expected to consider recalling forward Manolo Gabbiadini.
