Following a supposed misunderstanding, Spanish airline Vueling have issued a public apology to Lionel Messi.
Javier Sanchez-Prieto, the airline's president, has been under the spotlight after comments made regarding the location of Messi's house and how it might restrict plans to expand El Prat airport.
"We're limited because you can't fly over where Lionel Messi lives, this doesn't happen anywhere else in the world," he had commented on Thursday.
Such a statement was bound to cause controversy and as a result the airline has been forced to draft a rather public apology.
"It was never our intention to involve the player in any controversy," the statement read.
"We can attest that he's never issued any statement regarding the airport."
