Preston will look for a second successive Sky Bet Championship win without Jordan Hugill when Hull head for Deepdale on Saturday.
Manager Alex Neil left the striker out of Tuesday night’s 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest after feeling his head had been turned by speculation over his future, and saw him join Premier League West Ham on deadline day.
Midfielder Ben Pearson returned to the starting line-up at the City Ground after recovering from a knock, and there were seats on the bench for Tommy Spurr and Callum Woods.
Ben Davies and Greg Cunningham are continuing their respective recoveries, but Sean Maguire is the only long-term absentee.
Hull’s deadline-day signings Angus MacDonald and Harry Wilson could make their debuts for the club.
Centre-half MacDonald, a permanent signing from Barnsley, and winger Wilson, on loan from Liverpool, are both expected to be included in Nigel Adkins’ squad.
Striker Will Keane is pushing for his first start since recovering from a long-term knee injury, while defender Michael Hector and winger Kamil Grosicki are in contention for recalls to the starting line-up.
Midfielder Ryan Mason (head), striker Abel Hernandez (Achilles) and defender Moses Odubajo (knee) remain long-term absentees.
