Lincoln boosted by Alex Woodyard return

Lincoln will have Alex Woodyard available again for the visit of Newport.

The midfield linchpin had to miss the Checkatrade Trophy tie against Peterborough last week through suspension but he is expected to be back in the starting line-up on the Imps’ return to League Two action.

Recent signings James Wilson and Jordan Williams also come back into contention. Both players were cup-tied against Posh having represented Walsall and Rochdale respectively earlier in the competition.

Midfielder Lee Frecklington and striker Matt Rhead have both been nursing slight hamstring problems but boss Danny Cowley is hopeful they will be fit.

Newport manager Michael Flynn is likely to make changes following County’s FA Cup heroics against Tottenham.

The Welsh club are back in action just three days after holding the Premier League side to a 1-1 draw at Rodney Parade.

And Flynn could hand starts to the likes of Mark O’Brien, Matty Dolan, Josh Sheehan and Shawn McCoulsky as Newport look to keep pace with the play-off positions.

David Pipe, meanwhile, is nursing a stiff hamstring following the Spurs clash, which could mean a start for right-back Tyler Reid, who is on loan from Swansea.
