Zinedine Zidane has given Karim Benzema his backing.
REAL MADRID boss Zinedine Zidane has spoken out about his January transfer plans.
The Frenchman has already revealed his desire to strengthen the squad when the winter window opens.
And those remarks have caused a stir on social media with talk of Tottenham’s Harry Kane or Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi moving to the Bernabeu.
Karim Benzema’s poor form this season has also added fuel to the fire, with the France international only scoring five goals in 17 games.
But Zidane has given his current striker his backing, revealing after his side’s Club World Cup win against Al Jazira that he will not be adding any reinforcements to the forward line.
"[Benzema] has been very good and I will not ask for a striker," Zidane said
"Everyone can have their opinion, he had a good game.
"The team have created chances and I'm disappointed for him because the ball didn't want to go in.
"We have to think about our recovery. I'm happy with how everyone played."
Zidane has been under pressure this season as Real struggle in their La Liga title defence.
His side sit fourth in the league table, eight points behind Barcelona.
And they could fall even further behind when they return to domestic action a week on Saturday.
Barcelona face Deportivo while Madrid are playing in the Club World Cup.
And when they return to the Spanish capital they face Barcelona in El Clasico on Saturday, December 23.
