Iconic goals don't come much more memorable than THAT Roberto Carlos free kick.
Back in 1997, the Brazilian legend stuck the middle finger up to physics with a gravity defying strike against France in the Tournoi de France.
Bang
The left back drove a 30-yard set piece around the wall with enough bend that the ball struck the inside of Fabien Barthez's post and went in.
But was all as it seemed?
Apparently not.
Carlos, in an interview around free kick takers with L'Equipe, has admitted the strike was in fact wind assisted.
He said: "The ball was going completely wide but the wind brought it back to the goal.
"It was a miracle."
Carlos' strike has dumbfounded so many for so long, there was even a TED talk devoted to trying to understand the science behind it:
After ruining one of the game's greatest moments, Carlos went onto confirm Father Christmas wasn't real and Kevin Spacey was Kaiser Soze in the Usual Suspects.
The big party pooper.
