Spanish flags on show at the Bernabeu

The Real Madrid faithful filled the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday evening and made their own statement in reaction to the controversial referendum in Catalonia.
After Barcelona earlier played against Las Palmas behind closed doors, Real Madrid faced another side from Catalonia in the shape of Espanyol.
Outside the stadium, cards in the colours of the Spanish flag were given out with instructions to display them in the 12th minute of the game.
"We are all the 12th man and we are all Spain," the card said.
Before the 12th minute, a large proportion of the stands had already displayed Spanish flags, particularly in the singing section in the south stand.
It would have been easy to think that it was the national team playing as the club's anthem sounded over the speakers, given that the crowd sang "long live Spain" before kick-off.
