Arsene Wenger confirms Lucas Perez will leave Arsenal amid Newcastle links

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed Lucas Perez will be allowed to leave the club this summer.
The Spaniard only joined the Gunners last summer from Deportivo for £17m and made an impressive impact in the first half of last season.
However, his fortunes changed for the worse at the turn of the year with the 28-year-old not making a single appearance under Wenger in 2017.
The Gunners recent signing of Alexandre Lacazette for a club record £52 million has pushed Perez even further down the striker pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, with Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck also preferred.
When asked about Perez's future, Wenger told reporters at Arsenal's opening training day: "I don't like to lose him but we have main strikers and too much competition is no competition anymore."
Having initially joined Deportivo on loan in 2014, Perez made the switch permanent the following year and in total scored 24 goals in 59 appearances for the club.
Although he caught the eye in cup competitions Perez scored just once in eleven Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season.
