Werner not ready for Aubameyang, Lewandowski comparisons
RB Leipzig hitman Timo Werner feels little pressure to emulate the Bundesliga superstars, saying that he simply enjoys being within 'sniffing distance' of their achievements.

The 21-year old enjoyed a phenomenal turnaround in fortunes in the past 18 months. Having experienced the pain of relegation with VfB Stuttgart at the end of the 2015/16 season, the youngster bounced back in spectacular fashion with new club RB Leipzig whom he helped fire into the Champions League in their debut Bundesliga season.
Werner spoke with the official Bundesliga website about the inevitable comparisons with the German League's top strikers, Robert Lewandoswki and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, players whom he doesn't quite feel on the same level as yet.
"I don't want to be compared with them yet - they're world class,” he said. "It's impressive how they score their goals. It was nice to be within sniffing distance of them."
"Of course my aim has to be to do something similar again. But I'm not going into the new season with a commitment to myself that I have to score 20 goals again,” the Germany international added.
"This season we maybe won't be the number one challenger anymore,” he continued. "Maybe it will be Dortmund or someone new. Dortmund have signed very good new players, though so have we.
"It's hard to say where our path will lead us because this is the first season where we'll be playing a lot of midweek matches,” he said in reference to his team's forthcoming participation in the Champions League."
