The rivalry between Gerard Pique and Real Madrid has not been forgotten by Alvaro Arbeloa, who wouldn't even grab a bite to eat with the Barcelona defender.
Professing his lack of emotion towards Pique, the former Blancos full-back was often involved in 'cone' taunts by his rival and the Blaugrana fans.
"I have no feelings towards him," he said on Mega's El Chiringuito.
"I would not go to lunch with him. I would go with my friends."
Arbeloa was nonetheless pleased for the Catalans to have signed up Lionel Messi to a new deal and is confident that Cristiano Ronaldo will stick around to continue LaLiga's biggest personal battle.
"We have to wait for Cristiano to speak," he insisted. "Let him take his time. I have no doubt that he will stay in Madrid."
"Messi's continuity is good for Barcelona. Together with Cristiano, he is the best."
Without a club after being released by West Ham United, the Spaniard was honest on why he chose to retire from the game instead of seek a new team.
"I did not want to play in China or the United States," said Arbeloa.
"I do not play football for money. I have to be honest with myself."
