Harry Kane scored from the penalty spot in Tottenham's 2-0 win over Arsenal
If second-place Spurs clinch a ninth win on the trot they will slash the gap on the Premier League leaders to just a point.
And with Chelsea not in action again until they play Middlesbrough on Monday, Kane has urged his team-mates to strike a psychological blow in the title race.
"It is good to go first,” said Kane.
"We have got to try to drop the gap to one point and see what happens.
"Chelsea will have all weekend to think about it. We knew what it was like last year with Leicester playing before us and even before Sunday’s game with Arsenal. It is difficult.
"It is good to try to play first and try to put that pressure on, so it will be good to play on Friday night.
"Hopefully we can get that win, put that pressure on and wait and see.”
Mauricio Pochettino’s men may be refusing to throw in the towel but Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois says the title is theirs to lose.
The Blues need three wins from their final four matches to guarantee the title.
And with those games coming against struggling Middlesbrough, mid-table West Brom and Watford, and relegated Sunderland, Courtois is supremely confident.
The Belgian keeper said: “We never look at Tottenham. Of course we want them to drop points, but the most important thing is to look at ourselves.”
"With Southampton at home and Everton away, Tottenham probably thought we would drop points, so to win both games is very significant.
"Now we just have to win our home games.”
