RAID: Police arrived at the star's home at 1am
Leicester City striker Ahmed Musa, 24, was detained when police swooped on his luxury home at 1am.
The £16.6million footballer was taken to a police station where he was questioned on suspicion of common assault.
On the day before his arrest, Musa had posted a bizarre message on his Facebook page which attracts thousands of fans.
He shared a picture of a donkey. It was captioned: “Tag the first person who comes into your mind when you look at a donkey.’’
Officers first tried to arrest him on Tuesday evening unaware Leicester were playing a home match against Sunderland.
OUTFOXED: The 24-year-old signed for Leicester from CSKA Moscow
A source said: “Surely the most obvious place to look for a Leicester City player during a home game is at the ground.’’
Police went back to the property in the early hours yesterday after Musa had returned.
Officers declined to give further details about the allegation. On his Facebook page the 5ft 7in striker names his wife as Jamila.
The couple, who appear devout Muslims, have a four-year-old son and 20-month-old daughter and Musa often posts family pictures.
RELIGIOUS: Musa and his wife appear to be devout Muslims
According to unconfirmed reports from Nigeria, he also married a second wife as is legal under Islamic law.He signed for Leicester from CSKA Moscow following City’s shock 5,000-1 Premier League triumph last season and was their record signing until Algerian striker Islam Slimani, 28, joined from Sporting Club de Portugal on the last day of the summer transfer window for £28m.
Musa has played just 14 minutes since Craig Shakespeare replaced sacked Claudio Ranieri as boss.
England striker and Match Of The Day host Gary Lineker once tweeted: “Defend Claudio to the end after last season but his faith in Musa is baffling. Now I’ve said it, please prove me wrong.’
A police spokesman said a 24-year-old man was released yesterday with no further action.
Last night Leicester City said Musa will be quizzed about a “disturbance” when he returns to training tomorrow.
A club spokesman said: “We are aware that Ahmed Musa has today cooperated with a police inquiry relating to a disturbance in the early hours of this morning.
"The inquiry has since been closed and no further action is to be taken.
"We see no reason for formal action internally, though Ahmed will be given the opportunity to discuss the matter with football management when the squad returns.”
