FRUITFUL: Klopp hopes the new diet will help his players pick up their performances
The German turned to his Anfield nutrition experts in a bid to bring back winning ways on Merseyside.
They told him the recipe for success is to get his stars slicing up tomatoes at least twice a day in the hope of carving up defences for the rest of the season.
Raw tomatoes are 95% pure water, boast just 18 calories, a protein value of 0.9 grams and contain 3.9 grams of carbohydrates.
Liverpool chiefs believe they could be the secret ingredient that could add flavour to the ailing team’s season.
Kop staff revealed the tomato order has already been approved by nearly all of the diet-conscious foreign lads on the team.
But not everyone else is convinced – especially defender James Milner, who is not a big fan.
PLAYING KETCHUP: Liverpool's form has dipped in recent weeks
A source at the club, said: “A few of the British boys raised their eyebrows when this was first suggested, but the foreign players were already eating lots of salad.
"So this made total sense to them anyway.
"Leicester City tribute their amazing title win in the Premier League last season to their boss Claudio Ranieri, who took all his squad out for an Italian meal after their first away win.
"If Liverpool start climbing towards the top spot, it will be down to tomatoes.” Klopp, 45, has already promised to treat his side to steins of lager at a Munich bierkeller this summer if they finish in the top four.
NO THANKS: Some of Liverpool's native players have baulked at the idea
And despite Liverpool’s slump in form, he still remains a favourite with the Kop.
Stuttgart-born Klopp joined the club in 2015 from German side Borussia Dortmund, and became an instant star.
He has endeared himself to fans with his frantic touchline goal dashes that have often seen his glasses slide down his face during the excitement.
Klopp brought the house down by calling himself The Normal One – a cheeky pop at The Special One tag Manchester United chief Jose Mourinho, 53, gave himself in his first spell as Chelsea coach.
