On Saturday evening, Isco Alarcon had a bittersweet experience at Estadio El Sadar.
On the one hand, the 24-year-old scored a crucial goal for Real Madrid's aspirations, but on the other hand, he was the one who inadvertently caused Cayetano Bonnin 'Tano' to break his right leg.
"We clashed knee to knee," Isco told Movistar Plus. "It's so sad he suffered such a terrible injury.
"I'm very sorry, the collision was accidental, I wish him a speedy recovery.
"I noticed the severity of the issue once his teammate started yelling 'tibia and fibula.'
"It was so chilling I was unable to look at it."
Regarding the match, the ex-Malaga midfielder declared Los Blancos knew it would be complicated to prevail.
"We knew we would struggle to win because there was a lot at stake for them [Osasuna], their supporters are fervent and the pitch was in a very poor condition," he stated.
Lastly, Isco supported Zinedine Zidane's choice to alter the starting formation.
"We switched out system because out coach believed it could be helpful, and it worked out in the end," Isco insisted.
"I'm just happy to contribute."
