Camp Nou renovation could be completed by 2022

Barcelona are awaiting the green light on a huge new project that promises to invest over 600 million euros in redeveloping their already impressive infrastructure and ground, the Camp Nou.

A proposal has been handed over by the LaLiga club to the city's town hall, which will be discussed and then decided upon with the aim of regenerating their stadium and wider facilities within the next five years.

The Camp Nou will be remodelled during the project, with another mini-stadium built nearby, and the club's board hope that things can get underway as early as January 2018, which should see the plan come to fruition by the end of 2022.

The budget for the redevelopments will be increased by approximately 30m euros, after being initially set at 600m euros, due to the actual zone within which the stadium will be built growing in size.

The 'Espai Barca' project, as well as remodelling Camp Nou, will also contemplate constructing a new Palau Blaugrana and a new mini-stadium at the current training ground.
