Gary Neville has criticised Manchester United for being too anxious in the final 15 minutes of their 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The Red Devils managed to salvage a point after Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored an 84th-minute equaliser to cancel out James Milner's first-half penalty.
However, Neville felt that the Red Devils failed to keep their composure despite having plenty of time to score a winner.
The ex-Manchester United defender revealed that Sir Alex Ferguson was an advocate of showing patience even with a minute on the clock when the Red Devils were searching for an equaliser or a winner.
Indeed, Neville feels that Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United players will become better at adopting Ferguson's philosophy as the group gels under their new manager.
"Sir Alex Ferguson absolutely battered us into thinking that a minute was a long time. Don't lump it into the box from the halfway line. You don't need to. Play up the pitch and do it from a good area. You get your players up the pitch and can maintain the attack," Neville said, speaking on his own podcast with Sky Sports.
"That's where Manchester United have been excellent over the years in the last period of the game.
"On Sunday, Manchester United in terms of trying to chase an equaliser or a winner they forced it. They were too anxious. They had 15 minutes left and injury time and they didn't need to. It was a long time to go. It is just the education of the team and a new team coming together."
Manchester United are in sixth place in the Premier League table and 12 points behind current leaders Chelsea after 21 games.
The Red Devils signed four players in the summer transfer window after Mourinho was appointed as Louis van Gaal's successor.
