Malaga have announced the signing of former defender Martin Demichelis for the remainder of the current season.
The 36-year-old Argentine international, who made 103 appearances for the Primera Division side during his first spell at the club from 2011 to 2013, returns after an unsuccessful spell with Espanyol.
A former River Plate youth player, Demichelis' impressive performances for their senior side earned him a switch to Bayern Munich, where he spent seven years, playing 259 times.
A move to Malaga followed, ahead of time with Atletico Madrid and Manchester City, ahead of joining Espanyol.
A brief statement on the Malaga website read: "Central defender, Martin Demichelis will be part of Malaga CF for the remainder of 2016/17.
"The Argentine player, with ample experience in the European footballing elite, will begin his second phase with the Malaguistas, where he took part in League, Cup and Champions League matches."
And Demichelis added that he is looking forward to the challenges that await him at the club.
He said: "I accept this great challenge because that’s how I’m facing it. Despite my age, and arriving here without the rhythm of play, for me my obligation is to perform at the same level or better than I did when I was here last time.
"I like this challenge. I’m here to face it with great responsibility, and it will be based on performance. The people always want to win, which is good for everyone.
"If I play poorly, then I’ll deservedly hear the whistles, but if I perform well, the people will be happy again."
