Judge dismisses Neymar appeal

The appeal against alleged corruption allegations from Barcelona forward Neymar and his family has been dismissed by Judge Jose de la Mata.

After listening to the reasoning for throwing the case out, de la Mata has opted to press on with the case, which relates to Neymar's transfer to the club from Santos.

"It can be summarised that Barcelona, represented by Mr Rosell, agreed with Neymar Jr and the N&N company formed by his parents, that when he moved in 2014 for 40 million euros, they could collect further payment," stated the judge.

"According to a second contract, Barcelona paid 10 million euros to N&N, under the concept of it being a 'loan,' although the figure seems to correspond to a partial payment for the transfer of the player.

"The consequence of this is the alleged crime of private corruption because, by signing these contracts, the free market was altered as a result.

"If Neymar had breached the contract, he would have to pay not only 40m euros but also the other 10m that was entered into N&N."
