Chesterfield vs Gillingham - Injury problems mount for Chesterfield ahead of Gillingham test

Chesterfield's injury problems are mounting ahead of the visit of Gillingham.

Right-back Paul McGinn and stand-in left-back Dion Donohue are both due to have scans to determine the extent of injuries sustained over the weekend. McGinn (hamstring) had to come off during Saturday's defeat at Bury and Donohue trod on a ball in training on Friday and tweaked his knee.

Leading scorer Ched Evans continues to struggle with a heel problem and is unlikely to return to the squad.

Liam O'Neil continues to make good progress in his rehabilitation from a long-term foot injury while goalkeeper Tommy Lee is back in training after a shoulder problem, but both players remain some way off a return to first-team contention.

Gillingham could name an unchanged side after getting back to winning ways against Coventry.

Rory Donnelly, Billy Knott and Scott Wagstaff all returned to the starting line-up and should keep their places in Justin Edinburgh's side.

Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond is sidelined for three weeks after sustaining an injury during their EFL Cup defeat against Tottenham.

Full-back Bradley Garmston continues his recovery from a knee problem sustained in pre-season, while Aaron Martin (knee) and Lee Martin (ankle) remain sidelined.
