Notts County vs Leyton Orient - Alan Smith a doubt for Notts County

Alan Smith is an injury doubt for Notts County ahead of the visit of Leyton Orient.

Smith has a hip problem and will most probably miss out, although his absence should not affect Magpies manager John Sheridan's selection too much as the 35-year-old has yet to feature during September.

Curtis Thompson has not played this season because of an ankle injury and he will not be ready in time for Saturday either.

Sheridan has plenty of options available should he wish to make any changes with the likes of Louis Laing, Stanley Aborah, Adam Campbell, Aaron Collins and Vadaine Oliver among those vying for recalls.

New signings Jens Janse and Zan Benedicic could make their debuts for Orient.

Defender Janse signed on a free transfer on Tuesday while former AC Milan midfielder Benedicic signed a deal until January and are in line to start for Andy Hessenthaler's side.

Goalkeeper Sam Sargeant could return in goal after missing the O's defeat against Yeovil through illness. Nigel Atangana and Jay Simpson are in line to start after both returned to the bench following groin and back injuries respectively.

Defender Nicky Hunt is ruled out after suffering a knee injury against the Glovers but his injury is not as serious as once feared.
