Scunthorpe vs Sheffield United - Scunthorpe looking strong for Blades test

Posted Friday, September 23, 2016 by PA

Table-topping Scunthorpe have a variety of options at their disposal ahead of Sheffield United's visit to Glanford Park.

The Sky Bet League One pacesetters expect to have 20 fully-fit first-teamers to choose from, leaving Graham Alexander to pick the right combination.

Conor Townsend and Tom Hopper are still not fit to return and Jamie Ness is back in training but not match ready.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder is waiting for the scan results on Leon Clarke's ankle injury, but fellow striker Caolan Lavery is in contention.

Clarke missed last Saturday's home win against Peterborough, while Lavery, who made his debut off the bench in that match, has returned to full training after sustaining a knock playing in an Under-23s fixture earlier this week.

Skipper Billy Sharp is expected to resume up front against his former club alongside last week's match-winner Matt Done.

Wilder, who has no other new injury or suspension concerns, is unlikely to make too many changes as the Blades chase their fifth straight league win.
