Manchester United are ready to pay £42m to secure the signature of Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos, according to reports from CalcioMercatoWeb.
The Red Devils splashed the cash during the summer as they shelled out almost £150m to kick off Jose Mourinho's era at Old Trafford, but further additions are already being mooted.
Indeed, reports from ESPN before the close of the last transfer window claimed 'Mou' sought a commanding centre-back regardless of the big money capture of Eric Bailly, and CMW now state that Ramos is the player they want.
The Italian outlet even believe the Manchester giants are willing to pay £42m for the 30-year-old, which somewhat contradicts the Independent's view that Mourinho will not be backed financially in January - assuming a winter move for the Spaniard is being considered.
Man United were heavily linked with Ramos during Louis van Gaal's time at the club, but despite months of speculation through the summer of 2015, he opted to stay with Real.
The experienced defender has enjoyed a glittering career, winning the World Cup and European Championship with Spain alongside three La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues with Los Blancos.
