Stoke City’s Bojan set to swap Spanish nationality to represent Serbia

Stoke City forward Bojan Krkic is set to switch his nationality from Spanish to Serbian in a bid to return to playing at an international level.

Bojan, who began his career at Barcelona, has played for the Spanish national team once in his career having come through the youth ranks in the country's national set-up.

Bojan previously rejected a call up from Serbia in 2008 and stated his ambition was only to represent Spain, having been born in the country.

The playmaker's only appearance for Spain came that year when, as an 18-year-old, Bojan came on as a substitute for the side against Armenia.

And with opportunities to play for Spain now unlikely Bojan is pursuing a move to change his national allegiance to Serbia, according to Calciomercato.

The 26-year-old qualifies to play for Serbia through his father, who is from the Balkan nation, and is awaiting clearance from FIFA to play for Slavoljub Muslin‘s side.

Bojan has played in all five of Stoke's Premier League matches this season, netting once although the Potters have only collected one point from those games.
