Alaves 0 - 0 Deportivo La Coruna: Alaves down to earth with a bump as they draw 0-0 with Deportivo La Coruna

Alaves followed up their memorable win at Barcelona with a forgettable goalless draw at home to Deportivo La Coruna on Monday night.

The visitors came closest to scoring when Alaves defender Victor Laguardia headed against his own post with 10 minutes to go from a Faycal Fajr free-kick.

On-loan Atletico Madrid wing-back Theo Hernandez possessed the most spark for Alaves, who remain unbeaten in their first four top-flight matches after being promoted as Segunda Division champions.

Theo flashed a shot across goal after good interplay with Edgar in the first opening of the match, and Romanian forward Florin Andone scooped an effort over the top for Depor from a Juanfran cross in the 15th minute.

There was precious little excitement as the midfields sought to wear each other down. Manchester City loanee Marlos Moreno made space for a shot but Alaves goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco got down comfortably to save his low long-range strike.

Neither side clicked as an attacking force early in the second half, with Edgar overhitting a cross from the right with Ibai Gomez well placed and Manu Garcia inexplicably opting to dummy the ball as Edgar's pass rolled across him.

The game's best period came in the final 20 minutes as Theo's winding run took him into the box with German Lux getting down well to save his near-post shot before Laguardia's scare in front of his own goal.
