Portsmouth vs Wycombe Wanderers - Portsmouth boss Paul Cook could stick with winning line-up

Posted Thursday, September 08, 2016 by PA

Portsmouth boss Paul Cook could stick with the same starting XI that beat Crawley last week when they host Wycombe at Fratton Park.

Defender Drew Talbot has been ruled out for six to eight weeks with a hamstring injury he sustained in training last Thursday. That will see Gareth Evans keep his place at right-back.

Kal Naismith could return to the squad after being taken off the transfer list.

Michael Smith is pushing for a starting place after being dropped to the bench following his hat-trick during their Checkatrade Trophy fixture against Yeovil.

Wycombe still have a lengthy injury list.

Paris Cowan-Hall and Myles Weston are close to fitness but boss Gareth Ainsworth has not revealed whether they will be back in contention this weekend.

Joe Jacobson, Scott Brown, Luke O'Nien and Marcus Bean are facing longer lay-offs while Max Muller is unlikely to play again before 2017.

Deadline-day signing Scott Kashket could make his debut after being an unused substitute at Luton.
