Oldham Athletic AFC vs Walsall - Oldham still missing striker trio

Posted Friday, April 08, 2016 by PA

Oldham manager John Sheridan has no new injury problems to contend with but remains without three forwards for Saturday's match with promotion hopefuls Walsall.

The Latics head into the match buoyed by a 2-0 win against Swindon, which boosted their hopes of Sky Bet League One survival.

Oldham were without Aaron Holloway (ankle) and Timmy Thiele (shoulder) for Tuesday's match and the pair will again be absent on Saturday.

Fellow frontman Dominic Poleon returned to training this week after a shoulder injury, but is not yet ready for a first-team return.

Promotion-chasing Walsall could be unchanged for their trip to Boundary Park.

But caretaker boss Jon Whitney may be tempted into changes after their 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United last week dented their automatic promotion hopes.

Jordy Hiwula is pushing to start after coming off the bench last week while Everton loanee Matt Pennington could make his home debut.

Isaiah Osbourne is still out with a knee injury which has sidelined him since the start of the season and prevented him from making his Saddlers debut.
