Blackburn Rovers vs Middlesbrough - Rovers to run rule over midfielders Marshall and Evans before Boro clash

Blackburn are waiting on the fitness of midfielders Ben Marshall and Corry Evans ahead of their Sky Bet Championship clash with Middlesbrough at Ewood Park.

Evans suffered an ankle injury during Saturday's defeat of MK Dons while Marshall took a blow to the ankle.

Manager Paul Lambert said after the game he hoped the pair would be fit for Tuesday but would need to be assessed.

Danny Guthrie (hamstring), Lee Williamson (calf), Jason Lowe (foot) and Nathan Delfouneso (knee) remain long-term Rovers absentees.

Middlesbrough midfielder Adam Clayton will return to the squad after suspension as the title-challengers look to climb back to the top of the table.

Clayton missed the victories over Cardiff and Fulham as a result of collecting his 10th yellow card of the season in the goalless draw with Leeds on February 15, but he may have to remain patient with Adam Forshaw having deputised ably in his absence.

However, head coach Aitor Karanka will once again have to do without central defender Daniel Ayala, who is struggling to overcome an ankle problem which has sidelined him for the last four matches.

January signing Jordan Rhodes will hope to start having made his Boro debut against his former club as a substitute in a 1-1 draw on February 6, although he was used only from the bench at the weekend.
