Dunfermline vs Stranraer - Pars pair not quite ready to return

Dunfermline duo Ryan Williamson and Lewis Martin are nearing returns but the visit of Stranraer will come too soon.

Both players have returned to full training after lengthy periods out with injury and illness respectively but the home game against Stenhousemuir next week seems a more realistic target for a first-team comeback.

Elsewhere, Callum Fordyce remains out as he recovers from a broken leg.

Table-topping manager Allan Johnston said: "Stranraer are in good form and have climbed up the league as a result. Their defence has been strong and bringing Willie Gibson back has helped their attack so this is a very tricky game.

"However, if we start the game well, and at the right pace, we will be set up well for a good result especially if we take our chances."

Stranraer will be without David McGurn (toe), David Barron (ankle), Lee Mair (groin) and Crain Malcolm (knee) but Chris Aitken could return after a calf problem.

Blues boss Brian Reid is tempted to throw in a new striker, saying: "We are playing well but we have only taken three points from the last three games. We would have taken nine if we had taken our chances.

"There is a chance that we could have a front man who has experience of playing in Holland in our ranks. It is a bit of a wildcard of a signing but he may just get us the goals the rest of our play deserves."
